SHELBY COUNTY AMBASSADOR GRANT PROGRAM

The Shelby County Ambassador Grant Program provides funds to local groups traveling within the state, region, and nation who promote awareness of the residential and tourist opportunities within Shelby County.  The purpose of the ambassador grant program is to enhance awareness and name recognition of Shelby County and to project a positive image of Shelby County.  This grant program is a great opportunity for school activities and programs to receive funding for special trips while promoting Shelby County.

SHELBY COUNTY QUALITY OF LIFE ENRICHMENT GRANT PROGRAM

The purpose of the Enrichment Grant Program is to describe a means of assisting various organizations located within Shelby County or the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in developing and “enriching” the quality of life in Shelby County and our region. “Enrichment” will be defined for the purposes of this grant as new construction, equipment, electronic material or infrastructure, books and permanent education materials or services, resource materials for educational programs, or capital expenditures for exhibits that are available for the education and the direct benefit to the citizens of Shelby County.

This grant strives to facilitate joint efforts with municipalities, foundations or boards within the operating areas such as public libraries, museums, historical societies, and civic organizations within the County and the metropolitan area; or to assist in the securing of other grant funds for the same purpose.

SHELBY COUNTY PARK AND RECREATION GRANT PROGRAM

Funding through the Shelby County Park and Recreation Grant Program is designed to parallel recreation facility development activities in Shelby County.  This general category of funding for parks and recreation facilities is designed to increase the user capacity of non-County owned existing facilities, to acquire property to increase the physical size of existing facilities, and/or provide for the capital development of facilities in public areas unserved by present facilities. 

An affiliated organization, the Shelby County Community Health Foundation's mission is to invest in the development and support of programs that improve the health and well being of people and communities in Shelby County, to encourage increased efficiency and quality of health services and provide funding for citizen health care needs previously supported by the County.

This provides a unique opportunity for jurisdictions in the Upper Cahaba Watershed to develop a coordinated approach to guide future growth and development while protecting the Upper Cahaba River and its tributaries.
